We are keeping up with government directives and reevaluating the situation weekly. In the meantime, please join us on our YouTube channel for daily videos and our Sunday morning messages.

This pandemic is unlike anything our world has ever faced because of the ease of air travel and how rapidly it is spreading. We need to take this seriously and truly consider what is best for our church family, our community, and the world (for the glory of God).

Our president and our governor are asking that no groups larger than 10 people gather. Some might argue, “The government can’t tell us what to do.” Indeed, God is our ultimate authority. His Word is our guide, not the government. But, His Word does tell us to obey the government (i.e. Romans 13, which was written to Christians living under the tyranny of the Roman Emperor Nero).

Granted, we also know from God’s Word that we obey no one who asks us to disobey God. So, we have to determine right now – is the government asking us to disobey God? We do not believe so. Now, if they were using this pandemic to try to oppress churches, our response would have to be different. But, they are telling all groups over 10 to stop meeting for now to help prevent the further spread of COVID-19. This is not an attack on any group or cause, but is rather an effort to save lives.

Some might say then, “Well, we are commanded by God to gather regularly for fellowship and worship, so obeying the government’s directives here would cause us to disobey God.” Again, we would disagree with that in the same way that we would tell someone who has the flu or some other contagious disease – do not attend church services until you are well. That is the wise thing to do and the best way you can love your neighbor as yourself. That is not disobeying the Word of God. That is being wise and loving.

All experts across the board agree that the CDC’s recommendations should be followed right now. We hope and pray this gets under control much faster than is being predicted. Join us in praying for a miracle! Of course, let us continue to pray for God’s wisdom and direction, too, as we seek to not only make wise, God-honoring decisions, but also as we seek to love and serve one another and our community. To God be the glory!

Let us pray for God’s mercy and grace in the midst of this pandemic!

Wednesday Evenings This Summer https://www.playground.laredcreative.com/wednesday-evenings-this-summer/ https://www.playground.laredcreative.com/wednesday-evenings-this-summer/#respond Fri, 25 May 2018 13:45:53 +0000 http://www.playground.laredcreative.com/?p=6758 While the official Wednesday night gatherings for TeamKID and 412 Group are done for the summer, our suppers (5:45 – 6:30) and activities (6:30 – 7:30) continue throughout the summer. In fact, we are starting something newbeginning this Wednesday, May 30th. After supper, we will be having “Family Fellowship Devotions,” an informal time of fellowship and Bible study for the purpose of modeling daily devotions in the home. Everyone of all ages (singles, couples, families, etc.) is invited to join us!

Although there will be no childcare provided on Wednesday evenings during the summer months, we still encourage families with children to join us, as our Family Fellowship Devotions will be very informal and will be intentionally geared toward everyone, including children. We want to grow together as a family, and we believe this will be a great way to do that.

So, join us for supper at 5:45, followed by an informal time of fellowship (when the kids will be welcome to play games, play at the playground, etc.)* until 7:00, at which time we will have a short Bible study and group discussion time. For those interested and without children, prayer meeting will be from 6:30 – 7:00, at which time you can join the rest for Bible study.

If you have any questions, please contact us. Hope to see you Wednesday!

*NOTE: Parents and guardians will be responsible for the supervision of their children during the entirety of our Wednesday evening activities.

Get Connected & Stay Involved https://www.playground.laredcreative.com/get-connected-stay-involved/ https://www.playground.laredcreative.com/get-connected-stay-involved/#respond Mon, 12 Feb 2018 14:45:27 +0000 http://www.playground.laredcreative.com/?p=6477 Our passion is the gospel. Our church is our family. Our world is our missionThat is our purpose statement as Richland Baptist Church, and we believe strongly that all three of those areas – gospel, family and mission – are essential for every follower of Jesus Christ. In fact, all people are called to believe and embrace the gospel of Jesus Christ, which then naturally leads to them being actively involved with a church family and living their daily lives on mission for the sake of the kingdom of God.

Have you believed the good news of the gospel? Are you actively involved with your church family? Are you living out your faith and boldly encouraging others to turn to the Lord? Please let us walk alongside you in this journey, and seek to use the gifts God has given you to build up others in the body of Christ.

Pastor Nick has challenged us to consider the reality that for Christians to grow and mature as God intends, they need to (1) spend daily time in the Word and in prayer, (2) be involved with a church so that they are both being fed and serving others every week, and (3) be involved with some sort of weekly discipleship accountability relationship. When these commitments are prioritized, then we see disciples making disciples who make disciples. If you’d like to know how you can get more involved and grow in your commitment to the Lord, please contact us.

Below is our weekly schedule, and when you are on the go and out of town, please keep up with Richland using the free MyRichland app.

Sundays:

9:30 a.m. – Family Groups
–Family groups are Bible study fellowships for all ages – children, youth and adults. Nursery is included for infants and toddlers, too. We consider family groups to be an essential ministry for discipleship and relationships.

10:40 a.m. – Morning Worship Service
–Morning worship is an essential time of growing in God’s Word together. It’s that time of the week when most of our church family is all together for the purpose of worshiping our Lord and building up His body. Currently, Pastor Nick is preaching through Mark in a series entitled Discipleship 101. For those who are interested, we also provide nursery (toddlers and infants) and children’s ministry (kindergarten and below) during our morning worship services.

6:00 p.m. – Life on Mission
–Life on Mission is our Sunday evening worship service with discussion on how we can apply what we’re learning on Sundays to our daily lives and understand how to better live our lives on mission for God.

Wednesdays:

5:45 p.m. – Evening Meal
–Our Wednesday evening meal is FREE and is a great time of fellowship and encouragement. Everyone is invited to join us for great food and fun together.

6:30 p.m. – Prayer and Bible Study / TeamKID / Youth Group
–With ministries for all ages (both children and adults), Wednesday evenings provide a great recharge for the middle of the week.
