Sermon Series on the Power of Repentance https://www.playground.laredcreative.com/sermon-series-on-the-power-of-repentance/ https://www.playground.laredcreative.com/sermon-series-on-the-power-of-repentance/#respond Mon, 08 Feb 2021 02:30:00 +0000 http://www.playground.laredcreative.com/?p=8530 On Sunday morning, Lord willing, Pastor Nick will begin a new five-week sermon series on returning to God in worship. When the Hebrew people returned from exile, they had to relearn how to worship God as He expected. Returning to God in worship can be difficult. In this short series of messages, Nick hopes to look at some of the passages from the post-exilic period that show how God led His people back to the worship of the One True God.

Repentance is required for such worship, and praise God for the power of repentance!

Here is the planned schedule of messages…

Sunday, February 14 – “True Worship” (Nehemiah 8:1-8)

Sunday, February 21 – “Desired Worship” (Nehemiah 8:9-18)

Sunday, February 28 – “Repentant Worship” (Nehemiah 9:32-37)

Sunday, March 7 – “Learned Worship” (Psalm 145)

Sunday, March 14 – “Worship Celebration” (Psalm 98)

As always, we hope you will join us on Sunday mornings and evenings, as well as Wednesday evenings. For our full schedule, click HERE. If you have any questions, please let us know.

COVID-19 Updates https://www.playground.laredcreative.com/covid-19-updates/ https://www.playground.laredcreative.com/covid-19-updates/#respond Wed, 01 Apr 2020 01:00:00 +0000 http://www.playground.laredcreative.com/?p=7998 To comply with our government’s request and play our part in preventing the further spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), Richland Baptist Church has suspended all of our regularly scheduled Sunday and Wednesday services until further notice, but we are having Sunday morning outdoor worship services at 10:40. We are keeping up with government directives and reevaluating the situation weekly. In the meantime, please join us on our YouTube channel for daily videos and our Sunday morning messages.

This pandemic is unlike anything our world has ever faced because of the ease of air travel and how rapidly it is spreading. We need to take this seriously and truly consider what is best for our church family, our community, and the world (for the glory of God).

Our president and our governor are asking that no groups larger than 10 people gather. Some might argue, “The government can’t tell us what to do.” Indeed, God is our ultimate authority. His Word is our guide, not the government. But, His Word does tell us to obey the government (i.e. Romans 13, which was written to Christians living under the tyranny of the Roman Emperor Nero).

Granted, we also know from God’s Word that we obey no one who asks us to disobey God. So, we have to determine right now – is the government asking us to disobey God? We do not believe so. Now, if they were using this pandemic to try to oppress churches, our response would have to be different. But, they are telling all groups over 10 to stop meeting for now to help prevent the further spread of COVID-19. This is not an attack on any group or cause, but is rather an effort to save lives.

Some might say then, “Well, we are commanded by God to gather regularly for fellowship and worship, so obeying the government’s directives here would cause us to disobey God.” Again, we would disagree with that in the same way that we would tell someone who has the flu or some other contagious disease – do not attend church services until you are well. That is the wise thing to do and the best way you can love your neighbor as yourself. That is not disobeying the Word of God. That is being wise and loving.

All experts across the board agree that the CDC’s recommendations should be followed right now. We hope and pray this gets under control much faster than is being predicted. Join us in praying for a miracle! Of course, let us continue to pray for God’s wisdom and direction, too, as we seek to not only make wise, God-honoring decisions, but also as we seek to love and serve one another and our community. To God be the glory!

Let us pray for God’s mercy and grace in the midst of this pandemic!

“Prove It” on Easter Sunday https://www.playground.laredcreative.com/prove-it-on-easter-sunday/ https://www.playground.laredcreative.com/prove-it-on-easter-sunday/#respond Sun, 21 Apr 2019 06:00:49 +0000 http://www.playground.laredcreative.com/?p=7398 We want to invite you to join us Easter Sunday morning for family groups (9:30 – 10:30) and worship (10:40 – 11:40). During our worship service, Pastor Nick will begin a new sermon series from 1-3 John called Prove It.

A Christian’s life should be living proof of his or her relationship with God, and so Nick will challenge you throughout this series to consider the proof of your faith. Does your love for God prove itself in love for others? Does your relationship with God prove itself through obedience to His Word?

How can you be sure that you are a Christian? Nick typically encourages people to spend time reading and praying through 1 John when they ask that question. Thus, this should be a very helpful, practical and important series for all of us.

Below are the messages Nick hopes to preach in this series…

1 John 1:1-4 – “Proof of Jesus”

1 John 1:5 – 2:2 – “Proof of Light”

1 John 2:3-11 – “Proof of Salvation”

1 John 2:12-17 – “Proof of Priorities”

1 John 2:18-27 – “Proof of Truth”

1 John 2:28 – 3:10 – “Proof of Birth”

1 John 3:11-24 – “Proof of Love”

1 John 4:1-6 – “Proof of the Spirit”

1 John 4:7-21 – “Proof of God”

1 John 5:1-12 – “Proof of Faith”

1 John 5:13-21 – “Proof of Assurance”

2 John – “Proof from Truth”

3 John – “Proof from Reputation”

If you have any questions and/or want more information about our church or this sermon series, please contact us. Hope to see you on Wednesdays and Sundays!

New Series – Learning from King David https://www.playground.laredcreative.com/new-series-learning-from-king-david/ https://www.playground.laredcreative.com/new-series-learning-from-king-david/#respond Mon, 25 Feb 2019 13:00:43 +0000 http://www.playground.laredcreative.com/?p=7346 What does King David have to do with you? Much more than you might think. We can learn a lot from King David’s life as recorded in God’s Word, and this coming Sunday, March 3, Pastor Nick Drake will begin a new six-week series called The Gospel According to David.

Focusing on some of David’s major life events, Nick will challenge you to consider how these are markers of the gospel of Jesus Christ. How can we see the greatest King – King Jesus – in and through the life of King David? Then, what is our necessary response?

Lord willing, Nick hopes to preach the following messages in this series:

“Chosen by Grace” (1 Samuel 16:1-13)

“Serving in Humility” (1 Samuel 16:14 – 17:19)

“Victorious Faith” (1 Samuel 17:20-51)

“Suffering in Obedience” (1 Samuel 24)

“Fearful of God” (2 Samuel 6)

“Sinful but Repentant” (2 Samuel 11)

We pray this sermon series will help you seek the Lord and grow in your relationship with Him.

As always, you are invited to join us on Sunday mornings for Family Groups (9:30) and our morning worship celebration (10:40), and Sunday evenings for our prayer and praise service. We also have a free supper on Wednesday evenings at 5:45, followed by activities for all ages from 6:30 – 7:30.

Becoming the Villain https://www.playground.laredcreative.com/becoming-the-villain/ https://www.playground.laredcreative.com/becoming-the-villain/#respond Thu, 03 Jan 2019 14:15:25 +0000 http://www.playground.laredcreative.com/?p=7263 This coming Sunday, January 6, Pastor Nick will begin a new 5-week sermon series from 1 Samuel on the life of King Saul. How did Saul go from being a humble young man to a vindictive and jealous king?

Here are the messages Nick hopes to cover in this series:

1 Samuel 13:5-14 – “Villains Follow Fear”

1 Samuel 14:24-46 – “Villains Love Power”

1 Samuel 15:1-22 – “Villains Refuse Submission”

1 Samuel 18:7-9 – “Villains Are Narcissistic”

1 Samuel 28:3-8, 15-19 – “Villains Are Foolish”

How can we avoid falling into the traps to which Saul succumbed? Sometimes, we might like to think we are heroes, but could our actions be leading us to become villains? We pray this sermon series will help you seek the Lord and grow in your relationship with Him.

As always, you are invited to join us on Sunday mornings for Family Groups (9:30) and our morning worship celebration (10:40), and Sunday evenings for our prayer and praise service. We also have a free supper on Wednesday evenings at 5:45, followed by activities for all ages from 6:30 – 7:30.
