We have plenty of work for everyone who is willing to serve.

Beginning at 8 a.m., we will be working all morning but finishing around noon. Even if you can only help for a short time, please plan on joining us. If you have any questions or want more information, please contact us.

Thank you to the amazing church family members who continue to serve Christ by serving others inside and outside our church!

Serving Our Community https://www.playground.laredcreative.com/serving-our-community/ https://www.playground.laredcreative.com/serving-our-community/#respond Mon, 05 Nov 2018 14:30:54 +0000 http://www.playground.laredcreative.com/?p=7211 Our church serves at the Fulton Soup Kitchen on the second Thursday of every month. This Thursday, we will be serving from 6 – 8 p.m. For more information and/or to sign up, please contact Amber Clevenger (573-544-6589), fill out a contact form, or see the sign-up sheet in the church foyer. Thank you to those who have been faithfully serving in this great ministry to our community!

A few things have changed recently, so here is the update from Amber:

The new temporary location is at Backer Dining Hall on Westminster Campus. We will not need to bring anything, as all food and drinks will be provided.

Westminster Administration has asked for a few ground rules so that things flow smoothly…

1. Volunteers who can or choose to walk children from John C. Harris Community Center to Westminster will meet Lisa Thornburg at the flagpole at 6:15 p.m. (flagpole at the community center).

2. All other adults/volunteers will meet at the Berlin Wall Sculpture on campus at 6:40 p.m.

3. Everyone will then go in at Backer Dining Hall as a group, get food at the buffet, and eat in the side dining room.

4. Volunteers will help the kids (and anyone else) get their food and drinks through the line and sit down.

5. Volunteers will help clean up afterward the meal.

Upcoming dates to serve: November 8, December 13, January 10, February 14.

Nehemiah Bertram is getting baptized in the pool behind his family’s home in New Bloomfield. This is going to be a great event, and you are invited to join us! Following the 6 p.m. baptism, we will have a great time of fellowship over roasted hot dogs, S’mores and more. Hope you can join us! If you have any questions and/or want directions to the Bertram home, please contact us.

Also, as a reminder, here is our weekly lineup for regular activities…

Sundays:

9:30 a.m. – Family Groups
–Family groups are Bible study fellowships for all ages – children, youth and adults. Nursery is included for infants and toddlers, too. We consider family groups to be an essential ministry for discipleship and relationships.

10:40 a.m. – Morning Worship Service
–Morning worship is an essential time of growing in God’s Word together. It’s that time of the week when most of our church family is all together for the purpose of worshiping our Lord and building up His body. Currently, Pastor Nick is preaching through James, teaching us how genuine followers of Jesus Christ are “Marked.” For those who are interested, we also provide nursery (toddlers and infants) and children’s ministry (kindergarten and below) during our morning worship services.

6:00 p.m. – Life on Mission
–Life on Mission is our Sunday evening worship service with discussion on how we can apply what we’re learning on Sundays to our daily lives and understand how to better live our lives on mission for God.

Wednesdays:

5:45 p.m. – Evening Meal
–Our Wednesday evening meal is FREE and is a great time of fellowship and encouragement. Everyone is invited to join us for great food and fun together.

6:30 p.m. – Prayer and Bible Study / TeamKID / Youth Group
–With ministries for all ages (both children and adults), Wednesday evenings provide a great recharge for the middle of the week.

Thankless Children’s Ministry https://www.playground.laredcreative.com/thankless-childrens-ministry/ https://www.playground.laredcreative.com/thankless-childrens-ministry/#comments Tue, 09 Feb 2016 20:46:38 +0000 http://www.playground.laredcreative.com/?p=5554 Churches often recognize a sermon that is preached, a meal that is served, a baptism that is performed, a Bible study that is led and other visible ministries. What often goes overlooked, though, is the ministry that so many faithful servants have with children, particularly preschool children. Children that age obviously don’t think to thank their teachers and leaders. Most of the church never knows what goes on in the nursery and preschool room – how thankless the ministry can be, how exhausting it is, how few people volunteer to help, and how much time leaders spend preparing while knowing that most of the kids will pay little attention to the teacher’s efforts.

Volunteers who work with our children and youth, though, really are the unsung heroes of the church. They are in the basement (both literally in our church building and figuratively), but their ministry is of a critically high calling. Praise God for them!

Marsha and Katie, for example, are with preschoolers every single Sunday morning during our Family Groups, at least one Sunday morning each month during worship, every Wednesday evening during adult prayer meeting and Bible study, and even many Sunday evenings during Life on Mission. In fact, not only do they do this as a ministry for the church, but they are also mothers to preschoolers.

Thank you, Marsha and Katie! You are true superheroes. Thank you to all the other superheroes in our church who dedicate time, energy and resources to minister to youth and children – Billy, Terri, James, Tammy, Cheryl, Doris, Jerry, Beverly, Devin, Tami, Robin and Jenika.

Next time you drop your kids off in the nursery, in a Sunday School room, or in the youth area, be sure to thank the leader(s). Then, when you go to pick up your children, be sure to thank the leader(s) again. Write them notes of encouragement. Make sure they realize how much you appreciate their sacrifice.

Of course, there are many thankless ministries in our church and in every church. We as a church family need to do a better job of showing our appreciation and encouraging those who serve the Lord by serving His church. “God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the less honorable, so that there would be no division in the body, but that the members would have the same concern for each other” (1 Corinthians 12:24b-25).

Below are a few pictures from last Wednesday evening’s TeamKID Preschool. While they might not express it now, these kids and others like them will one day look back with gratefulness for the amazing servants who invested in their spiritual development.

Ministry Highlights – Youth https://www.playground.laredcreative.com/ministry-highlights-youth/ https://www.playground.laredcreative.com/ministry-highlights-youth/#respond Mon, 03 Mar 2014 21:00:52 +0000 http://www.playground.laredcreative.com/?p=4270 Mission Action Group
Our passion is the GOSPEL. Our church is our FAMILY. Our world is our MISSION. When our students, as well as anyone else, trust in Jesus Christ and believe the gospel message, we want them to get plugged in to the church family in order to grow in their faith. A true sign of that growth is a love for the nations – a desire to be on mission with God. That’s why Mission Action Group (MAG) exists. We long to see our students love God and love people – to be a Mission-in-Action Group!

MAG meets Sunday mornings at 9:30 for Bible study and Wednesday evenings at 6:30 (after our 5:45 evening meal) to help with our children’s ministry. Like everyone else, we also encourage our youth to join us for worship on Sunday mornings at 10:40 and Sunday evenings at 6:00.

We recognize that in an ideal world, youth ministry would not exist. Rather, children would learn from their parents how to love and follow Jesus and would then come as families to worship the Lord together with the church. Unfortunately, though, we do not live in an ideal world. For that reason, MAG is an outlet for junior high and high school students to learn God’s Word, grow in their faith, hang out with other Christians, serve others and be around good role models.

Ultimately, our prayer is that our students AND their families will get involved with the church and grow in the gospel together. If you would like to volunteer with MAG, have questions or want more information, please contact us.

Ministry Highlights – Kids https://www.playground.laredcreative.com/ministry-highlights-kids/ https://www.playground.laredcreative.com/ministry-highlights-kids/#respond Tue, 25 Feb 2014 19:44:21 +0000 http://www.playground.laredcreative.com/?p=4249 Kids Club
Richland Baptist Church loves children and loves families. We long for children to love and follow Jesus and grow in their faith in Him.

To challenge children to trust the gospel and learn God’s Word, we offer Sunday School classes, Children’s Church for ages 3-6 during our morning worship services, Kids Club on Wednesday nights and Vacation Bible School every summer. Along with studying God’s Word together, Kids Club is a time when the children do Bible Drill, Wednesday night service projects and have a lot of fun together.

For parents with younger children, we also offer nursery during our Sunday services. While some parents choose to keep their young children with them during worship, the nursery is available for those who are interested.

If you have any questions about our children’s ministry, would like to volunteer or want more information, please contact us.
