Our church is our family. Our world is our mission. Gospel. Family. Mission. – What we are all about as the Richland Baptist Church family.

Next Sunday, January 15, Pastor Nick will begin a new sermon series through the book of Acts. What better place to consider who we are as a church and what we are called to do?! The themes of gospel, family, and mission run throughout Luke’s record of the early church. Will you join us as we study this book together over the next several months?

We will take a break in April – May for a sermon series on what we believe and then jump back into the book of Acts after that.

So, please make plans to join us for this new sermon series during our Sunday morning worship celebration at 10:40. For a lineup of the rest of our regular services and activities, please click HERE.

As always, if you have any questions, needs, and/or prayer requests, please let us know.

New Sermon Series through Ezra https://www.playground.laredcreative.com/new-sermon-series-through-ezra/ https://www.playground.laredcreative.com/new-sermon-series-through-ezra/#respond Mon, 07 Jun 2021 00:30:00 +0000 https://www.playground.laredcreative.com/?p=8709 The book of Ezra is powerful. In it, we see God do what only He can do: reclaim and redeem His people. How does Ezra apply to us today, though?

This five-week series addresses what God did for the Jewish people throughout the events recorded in the book of Ezra. Through failure, forgetting what is important, and sin, we may become exiles attempting to return to God. However, just as in the book of Ezra God reclaimed his people according to his promises, He also reclaims and redeems our lives for His purpose in this world.

Throughout the book of Ezra, there are major themes that point us to God’s grace then and today. He still uses unlikely people to accomplish His purposes. He still reclaims us as His children when we turn to Him. Like the Israelites building the altar, God has now declared that His temple is His people. And just as the Israelites heard from God’s Word, we too should hear from God’s Word.

Here is the planned schedule…

Sunday, June 13 – “God Is Faithful (Reclaimed Hope)” (Ezra 1-2)

Sunday, June 20 – “Life Let’s You Down (Reclaimed Joy)” (Ezra 3)

Sunday, June 27 – “Difficulty Is Normal (Reclaimed Strength)” (Ezra 4)

Sunday, July 4 – Special Gospel-Centered Message from Nate Bloss

Sunday, July 11 – “Prosperity Is the Lord’s (Reclaimed Victory)” (Ezra 5-6)

Sunday, July 18 – “God’s Word Is Essential (Reclaimed Obedience)” (Ezra 7)

Sunday, July 25 – “Trust in the Lord (Reclaimed Faith)” (Ezra 8)

Sunday, August 1 – “Jesus – Our Strong Foundation!” (Philippians 1:6 for VBS Sunday)

Sunday, August 8 – Special Gospel-Centered Message from Allen Tippett

Sunday, August 15 – “Turn to the Lord (Reclaimed Repentance)” (Ezra 9-10)

As always, we hope you will join us every Sunday morning for family groups (9:30 – 10:30) and worship (10:40 – 11:45). To see our full weekly schedule, visit HERE. If you have any questions or prayer requests, please let us know. Hope to see you Wednesday and/or Sunday!

VBS is getting closer! https://www.playground.laredcreative.com/vbs-is-getting-closer/ https://www.playground.laredcreative.com/vbs-is-getting-closer/#respond Thu, 28 Jun 2018 13:45:44 +0000 http://www.playground.laredcreative.com/?p=6805 Vacation Bible School is almost here! Nightly from 5-8 p.m., VBS will take place Sunday, July 22nd through Thursday, July 26. We hope your kids will join us and that you will consider volunteering.

Supper (for all interested kids and volunteers) will be served each evening (Sunday through Thursday) at 5:00 with the VBS program beginning at 5:30. We will be done right at 8:00 each night, and we’ll finish off the week with a big VBS family celebration (10:40 a.m.), followed by lunch, games and activities on Sunday, July 29.

VBS is for children who recently completed pre-school through sixth grade, with nursery only being provided for the children of our volunteers.

We want to invite your kids to grab their megaphones, lace up their cleats, and tune up their instruments. As they fill up the offensive line, sideline, and drumline, your players, cheerleaders, and band members will realize God has given them His ultimate playbook. He wants them to join His team, train hard, celebrate salvation, and encourage one another. Let’s get in the spirit with Game On! VBS.

For more information, please contact us. Check out the below video to learn more about this year’s theme.

New Year’s Challenge https://www.playground.laredcreative.com/new-years-challenge/ https://www.playground.laredcreative.com/new-years-challenge/#respond Tue, 26 Dec 2017 14:30:14 +0000 http://www.playground.laredcreative.com/?p=6581

Psalm 119:9 says that the way a person can keep his/her way pure is by keeping God’s Word. A person can’t keep what a person doesn’t know, though. For that reason, we would like to challenge you to spend daily time in the Word of God in 2018 (and beyond).

Prioritize time each day to read your Bible, and ask God to speak to you through His Word. If you have questions about something you are reading, write those questions down. We can discuss those in our Family Groups, with the pastor and/or with other church family members. For your convenience, in the last bulletin each month, we place a Bible reading plan that will take you through the entire Bible in one year. Additional plans are available in the church foyer and can also be found for free by clicking HERE.

Please contact us if you have any questions. Let’s grow together in God’s Word!

Like last year, this year’s meeting will be a two-day event that includes preaching, teaching, worship through song and reports pertaining to the churches in Callaway and Audrain counties. The conference portion of the meeting will be led by Dr. Don Whitney, who will be discussing how Christians can grow in their faith through the practice of spiritual disciplines. Focusing especially on prayer and Bible interaction, Don will preach messages on Friday evening and Saturday morning.

Here is a general schedule for the weekend:

Saturday Morning:
8:00 – 9:00 a.m. – Free Breakfast (provided at Union Hill)

Don Whitney has been Professor of Biblical Spirituality and Associate Dean at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, since 2005. Before that, he held a similar position (the first such position in the six Southern Baptist seminaries) at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri, for ten years. He is the founder and president of The Center for Biblical Spirituality.

Don grew up in Osceola, Arkansas, where he came to believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. He was active in sports throughout high school and college, and worked in the radio station his dad managed.

After graduating from Arkansas State University, Don planned to finish law school and pursue a career in sportscasting. While at the University of Arkansas School of Law, he sensed God’s call to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He then enrolled at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, graduating with a Master of Divinity degree in 1979. In 1987, Don completed a Doctor of Ministry degree at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Illinois, and later a Ph.D. in theology at the University of the Free State in South Africa.

Prior to his ministry as a seminary professor, Don was pastor of Glenfield Baptist Church in Glen Ellyn, Illinois (a suburb of Chicago), for almost fifteen years. He has served local churches in pastoral ministry for twenty-four years.

Don is the author of several books, which can be purchased HERE or at the conference this weekend. His hobby is restoring and using old fountain pens.

Don lives with his wife Caffy in their home near Louisville. She regularly teaches a class for seminary wives, works from their home as an artist, muralist and illustrator and enjoys gardening and beekeeping. The Whitneys are parents of Laurelen Christiana.

We hope to see you Friday and Saturday!
